Discussion: How tolerant would you be with Non-Native English speakers?
Often people tell you that whatever you send out (emails, letters, cards, messages, CVs etc.) should be proofread by someone to make sure that there are no spelling and/or grammar mistakes in order to be perceived as professional.
Imagine ... you are corresponding with a Non-native English speaker for whom English is his/her second or third language.
How considerate and tolerant would you be when corresponding with that person if occasionally you notice some grammar mistakes?
* Would you simply accept it and understand that it is difficult to be perfect in a second/third language - you would not mind as long as the person is able to convey his message?
* Would you perceive this person as unprofessional?
* Would you make it dependent on what type of correspondence it is (e.g. an informal email, or a thank-you letter etc.)?
* any other opionions???
