My personal Etiquette Blog Review: The Protocol Institute
The Protocol Institute is America’s premiere etiquette and protocol source. They combine etiquette lessons and technology to deliver world class eLearning courses accessible anytime, anywhere. The courses are affordable and involve visual and audio lessons, as well as helpful assessments. Their dedicated research team and eLearning experts have created eLearning courses that are appropriate for today’s contemporary times. You can experience the engaging interactivity that builds confidence and prepares both children and adults for ACT in the most appropriate, considerate, and truthful manner.Today I would like to review their corporate blog, you can read the blog at:
* 7 Things I particularly liked:
- The very positive, praising writing style that I noticed throughout the blog. It caught my immediate attention. Something I never felt the same way when reading other etiquette blogs so far.
- Personal experiences and stories are shared (the blog author shares very often her personal thoughts, experiences at schools, private anecdotes of her family which help to convey the message more effectively.)
- The variety of topics. It would be very monotone if a blog would just consist of topics telling you the do's and don'ts, it would feel like reading a book. In this blog I really enjoyed reading what the Etiquette Professional had to say and I just found a list of tips/do's in one article, which was "Selfless Service". However, it was a topic which you might not find lots of the same information in any other resource.
- The pictures chosen, lovely and often very appropriate.
- The length of the blog entries which I consider ideal. The etiquette blog which I consider - when it comes to the length of blog posts - the most balanced I read so far.
- The "parenting factor", the emphasize on various blog entries that lots of manners, attitudes, skills etc. are really being taught to your kids at home (work ethic, being a valuable team member, the language used while driving your car, etc.). The examples provided make it very clear.
- Reading also other peoples' contributions. Two of my favourite entries were submitted by guest authors, a soldier's mother and an American businessman doing business with the Arabs. It shows again that great content adds definitely value to a good blog and it is worthwhile including also other peoples' stories. It is a known fact that people love reading about other peoples' experiences and if you look at the most "liked" and recommended blog posts this blog is proof.
* My favourite blog posts are:
- How life develops a salesperson (I liked the description/analysis of the 3 characters, it was funny to read)
- Announce your Happiness! (an extraordinary "happy" child. Even adults could learn something from it ...)
- Conversations with Friends (a blog post that every mother-in-law should read!)
- ABC's of Bloggers (the blog author shares what she learnt from attending a blogging conference. I really love this kind of experiences that Ms Pulido shared in this article.)
- Patriotism? Ask a Soldier's mom (a personal story)
- Conflict of two cultures & a decision (a professional, intercultural dilemma, very interesting! It teaches us the importance of not only knowing the customs of your host country, but also exceptions given to US citizens while traveling in foreign countries.)
- Manners & Driving Lesson 1 (it reminds us that parenting occurs also in your car)
- Manners, Character and the Family Vacation (the benefits of family vacation for your kids)
* The blog consists of the following posts:
- Salutations for Elders
