My idea submitted at: Ideas4all.com - Edu/Etiquette Parks

The Challenge of the month (October 2010) of http://ideas4all.com is "Ideas to improve parks!"

In its description it says "We want to improve parks, a place for all to enjoy and relax in. Parks bring a city to life, they are a place for us to spend time and relax in, practice sports or walk our dogs. Can you think of ways to improve parks? We're sure you can ... How about closed spaces for dogs to play and run in while you sit down and relax? Or gardening classes that would also help take care of the park ... Do you have an idea that would help improve parks? Come on and share them! From October 1st to October 31st you can share all your ideas." I just submitted my idea, let's see when it will be published and what other people have to say. But first let me tell you more about it .....

Recently when I went to Lodhi Gardens (New Delhi) I got the following idea when I spotted the first sign. I actually don't remember anymore what it said, but I thought it would be great to replace it and use it in a different way.

My 1st Idea: I would put up some waterproof digital signs/screens (see picture on the left, just bigger) that give people interesting etiquette tips and lessons. You could just sit there while relaxing and sunbathing for example and learn something new. At the end you would have the opportunity to test how much you remember from what you learned by participating in an interactive quiz. The topics could change from week to week (table manners, professional attire, international etiquette, office etiquette, diversity etiquette, wine etiquette, email etiquette, social media etiquette, phone etiquette, meeting etiquette and and and .....) That would give additional motivation to visit the park more often. It would feel like attending a free course on etiquette outdoors. Well, actually it could also be used for personal development topics, there would be a lot of choice too! Just imagine as I said ..... going to a park not just to relax, taking your dog out or your kids and enjoying the day but also learning something meaningful at the same time in the fresh air, for free....

My 2nd idea: Providing inspirational and motivational tips and quotes, also on digital or static screens/signs. Sometimes people who are depressed or feel morally down might really consider it as helpful and find strength in it.

Dear Reader, what do you think about the two ideas? I look forward to hearing from you.
