Job Interview Question: Silence.

Did it ever happen to you that during a job interview the interviewer suddenly remains silent? What are you supposed to do in such kind of situation?

Some suggestions to overcome the silent gap:

* Ask a question about the organisation.

* Ask for additional information.

* Remain silent, and after 5-7 seconds say, "Did I answer your silence?"

* Could we summarise what we have just covered in the last ten minutes?

* If we have covered everything, which of us will initiate the next contact?

* Do you have any other questions?

* Ask a question that radically changes the subject and brings the conversation back to a point your interviewer seems interested in discussing.

* Count on your fingers under the table. Usually the interviewer will resume talking before your each five!
