Discussion: Should salaries be mentioned in Job ads?
In Italy e.g. you would never find a job ad in which the company discloses the salary for a certain position. They would tell you during the interview how much you would be earning. Let’s say they invite you to two interviews. They might only tell you in the second interview what your salary would be. While in the UK, you can notice that (80 %) of job ads disclose the remuneration in their job ads. Do you think salaries should be mentioned in a job ad or not?
Well, I don’t consider salary as the most important thing in a job. However, it is important but I would put passion for the job in the first position. Having said that, I think for both parties it would be more efficient if they would know in advance what they can expect. Don’t you think that it would be a pity if both parties (interviewer and job candidate) would be the perfect match but they just can’t agree on the salary? And they realise this after having met three times maybe. If the company would really not want to pay what the candidate expects than they both just wasted their time. Even though, every interview is an experience that can teach you important lessons, no doubt about that. It’s just that - in the end - the result is not that, what it could have been.
So, what do you think about it? Should salaries be mentioned in a job ad or not? Please share your thoughts.... thanks.
