Discussion: Resumes AND pictures: a must?
In some countries it is considered normal or even expected to attach pictures to resumes, in other countries this is not really welcomed. What do you think? Share your thoughts!

Hi Karin I must commend you on such a fine effort. I feel these topics now add a community spirit to your website which might have been lacking before. I wish you lots of future success.
Now to the discussion.
Well I would hate to find out that a company wants to have a photo attached with a resume when applying for a particular position. Now dont get me wrong some companies might really have a genuine need for this requirement, e.g a modeling assignment, or maybe a cosmetics company. But mostly I find it hard to believe any company would request a photograph otherwise.
I even think that if a company asking for a photograph without genuine reason might find itself in court. Anyhow i know this is a very political issue. Maybe some women can comment about how they would feel about being asked to attach a photograph with their resume, while applying for a banking job or a telesales job.
But maybe this is more of a western view. I would love to here another point of view from the east. I know that in Japan it is perfectly acceptable to ask for a photograph but maybe i am wrong. Reply to this
